Catalina Barroso-Luque

Information

Catalina Barroso-Luque is an artist that constructs stories inhabited by voices, texts, images, bodies and objects. She also writes in English and Spanish, using processes of performativity, appropriation and translation. Catalina works between Mexico City (MX) and Glasgow (UK).


Catalina studied at the Glasgow School of Art (UK) and Central St. Martins College of Art & Design (London, UK). She has shown work at Wysing Arts Centre (Cambridge, UK), Deptford Project Space (London, UK), Glasgow Women’s Library (UK), Glasgow International (UK), Intermedia Gallery (CCA, Glasgow, UK), Radiophrenia Festival (Glasgow, UK), Borealis (Bergen, NO), Lydgalleriet (Bergen, NO), Centro de Cultura Digital (Mexico City, MX), Cento Cultural González Gallo (Chapala, MX), cheLA (Buenos Aires, AR) and Ely House for Contemporary Art (USA), amongst others. Her writing is published by Bricks from the Kiln, Gutter Magazine, Montez Press, Hoax!, post[s] (Universidad de San Francisco de Quito), MaMSIE (Birkbeck University), MAP, Panel, PSS and PotentA_. Her recorded work has been aired by independent radio stations around the world.
